I recently saw how it really works at the Ron Zacapa booth at the Chef of the Year event in Bremerhaven. During a workshop, Zacapa Brand Ambassador Betty Ratoczki showed interested participants how to safely prepare a Zacapa Old Fashioned at home using Ron Zacapa 23. An ideal variant for summer temperatures, but where of course the main product, in this case the rum, is in the center and is only lightly carried and refined by its companions. Because in the end, that’s exactly the art of the Old Fashioned.
Why does the popular classic have to be reinterpreted at all, you might ask? Because the warm season calls for lightness and freshness! This is exactly what the high quality, smooth Zacapa 23
offer and turn a winter heavy drink into a summer highlight. The perfect interplay of exquisite rum, chocolate, and grapefruit notes give the Old Fashioned an exciting new twist.
In addition to the classic Zacapa Old Fashioned, we also tried a variant with a spicy chili twist: The Drop it like it’s hot, according to a recipe by Sven Goller that Betty presents in this video.
Drop it like it’s hot
But the classic Zacapa Old Fashioned, when prepared correctly, is also a drink that makes it easy to impress your guests, ring in the summertime and celebrate special experiences together!
