The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list provides an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of 1,080 experts in the international restaurant industry. The list is not free of criticism, but it is a gastronomic reference point and reflects relevant trends from all corners of the world.
What is “best” is left to the judgment of these trusted and well-traveled foodies. There is no predetermined criteria checklist, but there are strict voting rules. Beginning in 2019, members of the Best of the Best group, comprised of former No. 1 restaurants on the list, are no longer eligible for the annual ranking.
The gastronomic world once again eagerly awaited the release of the World 50 Best Restaurants list in 2023. Year after year, top chefs, gourmets and food enthusiasts from all over the world gather to find out which restaurants have been named the best in the world – based on the by no means uncontroversial process of this list. In 2023, the list has once again created a furor on one side and some disinterest on the other, giving us a variety of outstanding culinary destinations.
