The Dom Pérignon Stage Dinner in Hamburg

Dom Pérignon invites to the Stage Dinner in the Hamburg Laeiszhalle – and it promises to be a grand and exclusive evening. And that on several levels of experience .

The culinary senses are appealed to by a menu conjured up jointly by Hamburg’s three most highly awarded star chefs. An almost unique opportunity to see the creations of Karlheinz Hauser(Süllberg, 2 stars), Christoph Rüffer(Haerlin, 2 stars) and Thomas Martin(Louis C. Jacob, 2 stars) united in a dinner.

The menu is also accompanied by three corresponding Dom Pérignon vintage champagnes: Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004, Dom Pérignon P2 1998 and Dom Pérignon Rosé 2003.

The cultural and artistic highlight of the evening offers a spectacular production in three acts, created by opera director and conductor Christoph Hagel and theater director Nicholas Mickrige.

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004

“The weather was almost perfect in 2004,” says a delighted Richard Geoffroy, cellar master at Dom Pérignon. “The year went off without a hitch. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 reflects this harmony, but received its unique character mainly from the dry heat that prevailed in the last weeks before the harvest.”
Compared to the changeable weather of the previous year, which left a lasting impression, both the growing and ripening periods proceeded without any complications – a phenomenon we have rarely, if not never, experienced in this way.
The bouquet unfolds in a spiral: almond and ka- kao powder gradually blend with white fruits and dried flowers. The characteristic scents of roasting complete the overall picture and testify to a perfect maturity. In the mouth, the wine plays instantly and, surprisingly, alternately with density and weightlessness. The precision is tactile, dark and captivating. The overall picture is consistent, racy, with a tasty and spicy note.

Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2003

Rosé Vintage 2003 is a vintage of superlatives: never before has there been a year so marked by extremes. The vineyards were already exposed to heavy frost in the spring and then to an unprecedented heat wave. Thus, the harvest of this small but fully matured crop has been the earliest since the year 1822. The color is intense, with light amber and copper reflections.

A few grapes were destroyed by the hot summer sun of August. This heat was followed by two gray and rainy weeks in September. Towards harvest (from September 21) the weather showed its best side and allowed the harvest of ripe and healthy grapes. The wine has an intesive, full and bright bouquet. Fragrance notes of honeysuckle, citrus and a touch of iodine. The vintage is characterized by a unique, creamy flavor, which is distinctive and engaging at the same time and lingers long. Smoky notes, which end in a harmonious balance.

I am really looking forward to this event. There are still some tickets available: The price for the event on August 19 is 333.00 EUR per person. This includes the 6-course menu, the menu accompaniment with three different Dom Pérignon Vintages and the evening program.
