Quantified self, the evaluation and analysis of one’s own personal data, is on everyone’s lips. Quasi. Because in addition to the many apps and gadgets that help to show one’s own activities and body functions, a way to track one’s own calorie consumption easily and automatically is missing. Until now.
Because that’s where Vessyl comes in. A (admittedly only medium-fancy) cup can automatically analyze one’s drinking habits and immediately convert them into calories.
The data of the respective drink in the cup is not only displayed on the outside of the cup, but also transmitted via Bluetooth to the Vessyl app (for iOS and Android), where it is evaluated accordingly. So the focus is on calories, but also on the amount of alcohol or caffeine drunk during the day, and finally on the general overview of whether enough fluid was consumed at all.
Currently Vessyl is in a pre-launch phase, you can still pre-order your mug for $99, starting in August the actual retail price of $199 will be settled, the first shipments are scheduled for early 2015.
