With the now available version 6.4 of the iOS app for Facebook , a new function is integrated into the Facebook Place area that should be of great interest to the hospitality industry: The direct table reservation.
Until now, you could already interact with a Facebook location via the Facebook app by checking in, liking, rating or calling it, plus data like the map, opening hours, current ratings and of course recent posts were displayed.
For restaurants, the ability to make reservations directly from Facebook obviously offers great potential and will help an up-to-date and well-organized Facebook Page become even more relevant and important. Initially, this service is available to over 20,000 restaurants in the U.S. and is based on a connection to the OpenTable service, which of course participating restaurants must also use.
