Inside Chefs’ Fridges thrives on this private view. It penetrates into the inner sanctum of culinary creativity and not only introduces the chefs, but also shows the contents of their refrigerators as well as favorite regional ingredients and favorite recipes from the home kitchen. In this combination, it’s as simple as it is ingenious. An exciting, private journey – and truly much to discover. Perhaps even a small part of the culinary soul of the chefs.
The edition includes the refrigerators of Daniel Achilles, Bo Bech, Sven Elverfeld, Klaus Erfort, Sergio Herman, Rasmus Kofoed, Magnus Nilsson, Joan Roca, Massimo Bottura, Fergus Henderson, Yotam Ottolenghi, Marco Pierre White, Hélène Darroze, Inaki Aizpitarte, Mauro Colagreco, Thierry Marx and Christian F. Puglisi, among others. In total, this brings together more than 60 stars, including the two leading chefs on S. Pellegrino’s 2015 list of “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.”
In the refrigerators you will find many exclusive products, always typical, regional specialties – but also fruit gnomes and Kikkoman soy sauce, Sriracha again and again, and sometimes also quite amazing “missteps” from industrial production.
In parts, the content is also slightly disturbing. Chef Rasmus Kofoed from Geraniumin Copenhagen stores frozen flies in his refrigerator. For fishing, as he says. But probably also to the constant dismay of his wife.
The accompanying recipes are in the vast majority of cases rather simple and compact, yet testify to the origin and personality of the chefs. More practical and easily adaptable recipes from the hands of leading star chefs have rarely been found. The spectrum ranges from horseradish kössen by Daniel Achilles to chicken soup by Ianki Aizpitarte to risotto with Parmigiano Reggiano by Massimo Bottura(also cooked by me here) to mussels by Sang Hoon Degeimbre or Swedish crispbread by Magnus Nilsson.
Carrie Solomon and Adrain Moore has succeeded in making an exciting throw. A new approach to learning a little more about the culinary pop stars of the day while discovering lots of really easy-to-use inspiration for your own kitchen.
