Gourmets, gastrophiles and restaurateurs eagerly await this date every year: The announcement of the new awards of the Guide Michelin and the associated publication of the new edition of the star guide.
This year, the official launch took place in Berlin, at Tim Raue’s La Soupe Populaire. Michael Ellis (first American director of the Michelin Guide) praised the now excellent position of German gastronomy in international comparison. This is directly reflected in the astonishing number of 69 new Bib Gourmand restaurants and now a total of 282 German Michelin-starred restaurants. Harald Wohlfahrt’s students alone distribute around 71 stars among themselves.
In 2015, the number of starred restaurants grows by a total of 31, with three restaurants being awarded a second star: Bobby Bräuer’s EssZimmer from Munich’s BMW Welt, Paul Stranden from Brenners Park Restaurant Baden Baden, and Peter Hagen from ammolite – Lighthouse Restaurant in Rust.

Nothing has changed at the top this year; the eleven three-star hotels in Germany were all able to defend their positions, and there are no new additions to this category to report.
