Stanglwirt, Going

The Stanglwirt is a magical, a very special place. Culinary as well as of course by the fantastic location down at the Wilder Kaiser. But also by the adherence to local traditions, the so typical Tyrolean building and furnishing style, the many opportunities for sports and especially for recreation. A place made for an exclusive time-out with an extremely high feel-good and relaxation factor.

It was about 15 years ago that I stopped by the Stanglwirt for the first time. Since then I have been to the inn many times, eating outside on the terrace in the summer and inside in the cowshed with a view of the cattle in the fall and winter. Only I have never stayed overnight at the Bio Hotel Stanglwirt. Until a few days ago. That was definitely a big omission.

In fact, the whole concept of the Stanglwirt is very coherent, for actually all seasons. We stayed in a really perfect room. A sun suite of about 90sqm in the recently completed new building, with a magnificent view of the Wilder Kaiser. The luxurious room also had its own small sauna with a direct view of the snowy mountains and, as a special highlight, an open fireplace right by the bed. Much more is not really possible to enjoy perfect alpine romance for two.

The new spa and wellness area also knows how to inspire. Since the beginning of the year, guests have had access to two new indoor and outdoor brine pools with more than 200 m² and a water temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, as well as a new relaxation zone surrounded by green islands and an open fireplace. In addition, there is also the classic sauna area with rock bath (for the whole family). Floor-to-ceiling windows give a great view of the surrounding alpine landscape from almost everywhere. Whether you choose the sauna or simply float outside in the warm brine pool while being snowed in by the first snowflakes – a first feeling of relaxation sets in abruptly.

Of course, the culinary also plays a central role. Our arrangement included an evening menu in the Kaiser- & Malerwinkel-Stube, the restaurant reserved for hotel guests. A flexible menu was offered with 6 courses, some of which could be combined individually, supplemented by salad and cheese buffets. We feasted on pralines of foie gras, shrimp on wok vegetables, fillet of char and saddle of veal under herb crust. All courses at a good level and thanks to very friendly service and very cozy room a nice evening.
